Preparing for the Upcoming Tournament Stretch

As we head into the heart of the 2026 season, everyone at West Texas ONE is excited about what lies ahead. The upcoming tournament stretch represents more than just games on a schedule it’s an opportunity to grow, to connect, and to prepare our young athletes for moments that will shape them far beyond the court.

With that excitement also comes responsibility. Preparing the right way allows us to provide the best possible experience for our players and families. Here are a few key areas we’re focused on as we move forward together.

Taking Care of the Details Early

One of the most important parts of a smooth season is handling fees early and on time. When families take care of required payments, it allows us as an organization to properly manage operational expenses such as:

  • Team uniforms and gear

  • Tournament registrations

  • Coach travel and lodging

  • Facility and training resources

These details may not always be visible, but they are essential to keeping our teams prepared and competitive. When everyone does their part early, we can focus our energy on development, preparation, and creating great experiences instead of scrambling to catch up.

Planning Ahead for Travel & Lodging

Tournament weekends often mean travel, and one of the biggest lessons we learned last season is the importance of booking hotels early. Waiting too long can leave teams with limited options, higher prices, or in some cases, no availability at all.

By planning trips well in advance based on our published schedule, we ensure:

  • Our teams stay close to tournament venues

  • Families aren’t forced into last-minute travel stress

  • Players remain rested, focused, and ready to compete

Early planning protects the experience for everyone involved and helps avoid situations we don’t want to repeat.

Building the Experience Beyond Basketball

At West Texas ONE, basketball is the vehicle people are the purpose. This season, we’re committed to planning intentional organizational events that allow our players to enjoy the journey and build meaningful connections.

These moments off the court help:

  • Strengthen team chemistry

  • Build friendships that last into adulthood

  • Create networks that extend into college, careers, and life

We want our athletes to look back and remember not just the games they played, but the relationships they formed and the culture they were part of.

Growing Faith & Guiding Hearts

Another core focus of our program is faith and spiritual connection. We believe in creating opportunities to help guide players, families, and friends toward a deeper relationship with God.

Through fellowship, shared experiences, and intentional conversations, we aim to:

  • Encourage strong moral foundations

  • Support families beyond basketball

  • Help young people develop faith that carries them through life

This is about more than wins and losses it’s about shaping character, purpose, and direction.

Moving Forward Together

The 2026 tournament stretch is approaching quickly, and preparation is the key to success. When we handle responsibilities early, plan ahead, and stay aligned as a community, we create an environment where our athletes can truly thrive.

Thank you for being part of West Texas ONE. We’re excited for what’s ahead the competition, the growth, the connections, and the journey we will take together.
